Weber Q 220 Review
Weber Q 220 is a mid-sized portable grill with the fire-power of a much larger grill. The grilling surface is large and the attention to detail on this grill has lead to excellent customer feedback (4 1/2 stars on Amazon).
Weber Q 220 Benefits:
* 10 Minute Assembly - Incredibly easy assembly will have you firing up the grill about 15 minutes after unpacking the box.
* Space-Saving Design – Compact size, folded it is a mere 31 inches wide and 16 inches deep. (The handles and hinges add a few inches in each direction. Sitting on a table it is about 16″ tall.
* Heavy-Duty Grill – Ceramic coated cast iron grill retains heat for a perfect “sear” and grill marks on both sides of your food. The heat retention also allows you to rotate cooked food through more rapidly, without having to reheat the grill.
* Spacious Cooking Surface – Large cooking surface (about 15×21 inches) will hold 10 steaks, 12 burgers, or 9 burgers and 8 hot dogs.
* Easy Clean Up – Grill funnels grease away from the flame and into a disposable drip-pan. This reduces the chance for a flash-fire and also makes clean-up much easier.
* Grills Large Items – Deep cover is almost 7 inches tall in the center, allowing room for grilling a whole chicken or roast. About the same grilling depth as the 22″ charcoal Weber and 1″ taller than the Weber Q 200.
* Adaptable Fuel Source – Operates on small propane canisters or add an adaptor to use larger tanks.
* Lightweight and Portable - Easy to use for camping, tailgating, or for family parties. Can be carried by one person. Weighs just under 40 pounds.
* Precise Cooking Temps – Built in hood thermometer lets you know exactly how hot this baby is.
* Efficient Grilling – Compact size, heavy grill, and unique design make it very efficient. Even with only 12,500 BTU, it cooks like a much larger/hotter grill. Reducing cooking time and saving you on fuel.
* Convenient Side Tables and Tool Storage – Convenient side tables give you a place to put down tools, sauce, etc. Snap in tool hooks underneath for storage when grill is folded.
* Accessories – Accessories include a rolling cart, Q sized tools, a weather cover for just the grill or a premium cover that protects the cart, and an adapter for use with a 20 lbs propane tank – available separately.
Weber Q 220 Drawbacks:
So, what are the downsides? While the Weber Q 220 is exceptionally well-designed for it’s size, there are always some drawbacks to any portable grill.
* Mid-sized – Smaller size may not be big enough for you if you need more than 12 burgers at a time.
* Lightweight Side Tables – Side tables are small and don’t support a lot of weight.
* Regulator Issues – Some people have experienced problems with the propane regulator, though Weber is quick to send replacement parts and offer advice on their customer service line. This seems to have been a bigger issue when it was first released. More recent customer feedback suggests they have resolved this issue for most users.
Overall, this is a great mid-sized grill that is perfect for camping, apartments, tailgating parties, NASCAR and any other time when you want a lot of grill in a small package.
